To address the housing needs of families displaced from Akbarpur and Bikhampur areas in Kukrail, the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) has initiated the allocation of houses under government schemes on Hardoi Road.
The authority revealed that 72 houses at Basant Kunj, located on Hardoi Road, have been allotted under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana to families displaced from Bikhampur. Additionally, 18 other families have received housing allocations under the DUDA's Asra Housing scheme.
LDA Vice-Chairman Indramani Tripathi stated that 31 families from Akbarpur have been allotted houses at Basant Kunj under the PM Awas Yojana, and an additional 58 families have been provided houses under the DUDA housing scheme.
The decision follows the LDA's issuance of demolition orders for houses in Akbarpur, affecting approximately 1,200 residents. In a parallel effort, the authority has already carried out the demolition of illegal houses in Bikhampur.
LDA Additional Secretary Gyanendra Varma highlighted that individuals willing to relocate will have the option to pay installments for the houses over a 10-year period, offering a more feasible and flexible approach to homeownership.
